Also, Aisha Tyler, because I love her. Whoever set up the red carpet at this event was retarded. All the celebs are trying desperately not to squint, with varying degrees of success. And I suppose I do have to hand it to Tyra and her years of modeling experience — she manages to make her face look stunning despite the fact that the sun seems to be in everyone’s eyes.

Katharine McPhee is a guest on February 27th’s episode of the Tyra Banks Show. As you can see here, the interview went swimmingly. This is what Tyra had to say about Katharine’s boobs.

February is Black History Month and what better way to celebrate than having the first black Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover model, Tyra Banks, recreate her photo shoot. Tyra has gained 20 lbs since the first shoot bringing her to a filling 160 lbs. With lots of airbrushing, I’m proud to say she’s still sexy as ever.

Most of the pictures are of her in the water or her covering up. The only full bikini shot is that damn cover. I tried scaling it so you could compare the two. Don’t let their crafty perspective tricks fool you. It looks like they enlarged the text and put Tyra more in the distance to make her look less pudgy. The former ANTM judge and owner of the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency weighs in on the “skinny model” debate:

“I’m dying to find kids who are too thin. I’ve got 42 models in my agency and I’m trying to get them to lose weight. In fact, I wish they’d come down with some anorexia.” When you laugh at such politically incorrect statements, Dickinson yells back, “I’m not kidding. I’m running into a bunch of fat-assed, lazy little bitches who don’t know how to do the stairs or get their butts into the gym … Models are supposed to be thin. They’re not supposed to eat. In fact, I’m not going to eat for the rest of the day because we had this conversation.”

As awful as it is, I often agree with Janice, and I’m glad they still make folks like her. I know, I know. I’m a horrible person, and I’ve come to terms with that, but has anyone else noticed that bigger models just don’t carry the clothes as well as the ultra-skinny ones? And I’m not talking plus-size models, I’m talking girls with, like, a BMI of 20. It just doesn’t look as hot as some BMI 17 chick waltzing down the catwalk. There’s a reason models are ridiculously thin! It looks glamorous and unattainable and otherworldly! It makes you want to buy the clothes! I don’t think ultra-thin is very sexy off the catwalk, but anyone who thinks an average normal-weight girl is going to sell a dress as well as a super-skinny girl is just fucking wrong. Sorry.

In closing, here’s a very funny sign someone posted in front of CBS Studios (where Tyra Banks films her talk show). Let the hate mail roll in. Because if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that if anyone has more rabid fans than Justin Guarini, it’s Tyra.

On the Tyra Banks Show, Tyra will be talking about the picture that was taken of her which made her look like she weighed 180 lbs. She’s now only 161 lbs. She talks about how hurtful being called fat is and goes on a long rant about something or other. I’m not too sure. I couldn’t concentrate because I felt suffocated by her thighs. Supermodel-turned-reality-show-host-turned-talk-show-queen Tyra Banks spoke with People magazine about the weight she’s put on since she retired from modeling in 2005. When a tabloid posted these pics of Tyra looking a little hefty in a swimsuit with some disparaging headlines, Tyra’s feelings were understandably hurt. “I get so much mail from young girls who say, ‘I look up to you, you’re not as skinny as everyone else, I think you’re beautiful,’ ” she says. “So when they say that my body is ‘ugly’ and ‘disgusting,’ what does that make those girls feel like?”

Continues Tyra, “I’ve made millions of dollars with the body I have, so where’s the pain in that? If I was in pain, I would have dieted. The pain is not there – the pain is someone printing a picture of me and saying those (horrible) things.”

Tyra’s long been a proponent of a realistic body image for young women, and she always encourages the girls on Top Model to eat healthy and take care of themselves. The competition used to regularly include a token “fat model,” but producers must have realized the hopelessness of that cause, because the more recent cycles have been all thin girls. Last year, Tyra announced that she would no longer allow photo shoots of herself to be digitally retouched before being used in magazine, again emphasizing that this sends a message promoting unrealistic beauty to women. Because, you know, every woman can look like Tyra Banks if she just exercises and eats right.

But is there an additional motive to Tyra’s weight gain? “(TV execs) think it’s better when I’m at 155 lbs. – at 145, they feel I’m not as relatable,” she says. Perhaps Tyra’s trying to discard her supermodel image and adopt a look that Midwestern housewives will be more comfortable taking advice from.

Tyra Banks to keep talking for two more years

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) has effectively renewed Telepictures Productions’ syndicated The Tyra Banks Show for two additional seasons. Currently in its second season, Tyra has been renewed through the end of the 2008-09 on Fox-owned stations in 22 markets, including WNYW New York, KTTV Los Angeles and WPWR Chicago. “Tyra has shown steady growth over its first 18 months on the air and has broadened its demographic appeal, especially in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos,” said WBDTD President Ken Werner. “Fox, Sinclair and other Tyra stations have remarked on how this series has truly blossomed on the air.” “We are obviously thrilled with Tyra, which is quite evident by our giving the series a two season vote of confidence,” said Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations.“We believe this show has quickly become a franchise and will continue to grow into a true powerhouse for years to come.” The renewal comes despite a 12% year-to-year drop in household ratings. It is averaging a 1.4 AA rating season season-to-date in Nielsen national syndication rankings, down from a 1.6 a year ago. Warner Bros. blames the decline on a loss of some double runs this season.

Big, small, short, tall, as long as you dont mind stripping down to your skivies Tyra wants you there. Acceptable dress is bra and panties, boxers and a tanktop, or slips; but NO PAJAMAS this is an UNDERWEAR show.

You mean I can sit in my underwear and ogle Tyra Banks and not go to jail? I can only see a few problems with this. One. They have an issue with my erection being too big and distracting. Believe me. Oprah’s Legends Ball, with Janet, Mariah, and Tyra

Oprah held her “Legends Ball” last night to honor the achievements of African-American women. Celebrities pictured include Oprah Winfrey, Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Tyra Banks, Mariah Carey, Spike Lee, Diddy, Smokey Robinson, Pam Grier, Dionne Warwick, Gayle King, Cicely Tyson, Deborah Roberts, Antonio LA Reid , and Nate Berkus.

A two hour special featuring highlights from the 2005 Legends Ball will air on ABC this Monday:

The special is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. ET Monday, May 15, leading into the two-hour season finale of “Grey’s Anatomy.” It will feature interviews with some of the honorees and others who attended the ball, along with footage from the events of the weekend: a lunch for the honorees, a formal, white-tie ball and a gospel brunch that featured the likes of Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight.

In addition to the honorees, among those in attendance at the weekend’s events were Halle Berry, Sidney Poitier, Angela Bassett, Tom Cruise, Barbra Streisand, Sen. Barack Obama, Maria Shriver and Quincy Jones.

In the pictures of the event, Janet Jackson looks fit and happy, and Mariah Carey looks pretty good even though she’s wearing a stripper cut-out dress. 70s siren Pam Grier looks pretty bad, but I looked her up and she suffered from cancer in 1998 and was given 18 months to live. She was gorgeous in Jackie Brown in 1997. Hopefully she’s on the road to recovery and will get a makeover soon.
