Tila Tequila is getting another ‘Shot at Love’. Go figure.
The MySpace star, who claims to be bisexual, (and rumored to have a steady boyfriend) starred in her own reality show which just wrapped it’s first season on MTV.
10 new episodes of “Shot at Love” are set to premiere in the Spring 2008. And yes, it will again be boys and girls vying for her skanky little heart.
Surprisingly, the show was MTV’s most-watched series on the network since 2002. That’s not saying much, MTV.
As you know, we’ve been holding information sessions over the past several days to discuss our freelance and temporary employee benefits. We’ve had many insightful conversations and heard a number of your specific concerns.
As a result of the input you’ve given to us directly through the sessions and your managers, we want to announce the following changes:
· We are expanding our freelance and temporary medical and dental benefits options to include the United Healthcare plan under which many of you are currently covered. This means anyone who is eligible for benefits in 2008 can opt for medical and dental coverage with United Healthcare at the current rate of contribution, or you can elect instead to enroll in the newly offered Aetna plan.
The Aetna plan has certain advantages that may make it the preferred option for many of our freelance and temporary employees. Based on your input, however, we want to make sure that those of you who prefer the United Healthcare plan have that option.
· As a result of this change, the freelance and temporary employee payroll conversion to Cast and Crew has been delayed until February 1, 2008. Therefore, the December 14th deadline to submit your Cast and Crew paperwork has been postponed. We will inform you of the new deadline early in the New Year.
· We’ve implemented a process for evaluating freelance and temporary employee positions for possible conversion to staff positions. This process is currently underway and decisions will be communicated by January 31st, 2008.
STRIKES ARE CONTAGIOUS! The WGA strike seems to be giving everyone else the guts to stage their own.
Scores of workers from MTV Networks walked off the job yesterday afternoon, filling the sidewalk outside the headquarters of its corporate parent, Viacom, to protest recent changes in benefits.
The walkout highlighted the concerns of a category of workers who are sometimes called permalancers: permanent freelancers who work like full-time employees but do not receive the same benefits.
Waving signs that read “Shame on Viacom,â€? the workers, most of them in their 20s, demanded that MTV Networks reverse a plan to reduce health and dental benefits for freelancers beginning Jan. 1.
When MTV presented its freelancers with a new plan that includes no 401K, reduced health benefits and no paid vacation (they’re freelancers, isn’t that what they’re supposed to get?), they decided to stage a walk-out on Monday, and they’re trying to get the whole company involved.

Amy Winehouse won the Artists’ Choice Award at the 2007 MTV European Music Awards in Munich yesterday and her acceptance speech was one that won’t be forgotten soon.
As R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe announces she is the winner, she looks shocked, amazed and like a deer in headlights. Literally.
She reluctantly approaches the stage and accepts her award from Stipe. He congratulates her and she says “Thank you,” quietly. Then she proceeds to just stand there at the podium looking nervous, staring into the audience who is cheering wildly.
Amy looks off stage to someone as if if to say, “I’m so high, I don’t know what to say..” She ends up leaving the stage abruptly, leaving the crowd to gasp at her bizarre behavior.
Her performance was terrible as well. Check it out..just, wow.
Hollywood hairstylist Ken Paves refused to primp Britney Spears‘ hair for Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Spears had contacted Paves asking him to do her hair for her ‘big comeback’ and Paves initially agreed. He even flew to Las Vegas to meet with Spears but backed out last minute causing her to scramble for another hairdresser. She found one, but then fired her after a backstage spat.
Maybe that’s why her hair sucked so bad. But why the hell did she wait until the last minute anyhow?
Paves says about the incident, “I made the professional decision not to do her hair.”
Kanye West is pissed that MTV won’t “give a black man a chance” (his words, not mine) by giving him any of their prestigious Moon Man awards. And in a cutting off his nose to spite his face move, Kanye is boycotting the network. The dude is seriously a poor loser.
“Rapper Kanye West has vowed to boycott cable channel MTV after missing out on five awards at the Video Music Awards on Sunday. The ‘Gold Digger’ hitmaker made his hurt feelings known after the event in Las Vegas, hurling abuse at MTV bosses as cameras rolled backstage. He ranted: ‘That’s two years in a row… Give a black man a chance.’
“And he hadn’t calmed down by the time he hit the airwaves on New York radio station Z100 on Monday morning. He even attacked the VMA organisers for exploiting Britney Spears, who opened the show with a disastrous performance of her new single. He told the radio station: ‘They exploited Britney in helping to end her career. When Britney was opening, near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said: “Man, it’s a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.”’
“He went on to tell Z100 DJ JJ that he felt misled and ‘betrayed’ by MTV bosses, and promised to never work with the network again. West revealed he has already cancelled planned appearances set for this week.
It’s hard to say if that’s a bad move for Kanye or a bad move for MTV. The network has really been struggling lately and has lost a huge amount of their audience to BET and the internet. Though they were certainly the forerunners in television music, they’ve focused far too much on reality programming and not enough on airing music videos. Losing another popular artist couldn’t help things for MTV – the question is whether it can help things for Kanye. Though he could stand to be taken down a peg. I think he’s around 6 feet tall – five and a half of that is actually Kanye, the other six inches are his ego. If this move ends up being a mistake, maybe it’ll humble him… but likely just piss him off even more.
Kanye was also annoyed with Pamela Anderson, even though they were friends, and she co-starred in his video for “Touch the Sky.”
“The rapper also had harsh words for his one-time video co-star Pamela Anderson, who he felt ‘disrespected’ him as she introduced his VMA performance.
“The former Baywatch babe said: ‘One of the best times I’ve ever had was making out with the next performer in the middle of the desert.’
“‘I think I had my tongue so far down his throat I could taste his fiancée - and I might need a repeat performance later tonight.’
“West was far from amused: “I’m engaged, and I feel like it’s disrespectful to my relationship.’”
I’m not going to say that was the smartest joke I’ve ever head, but it was way too smart for me to believe that Pamela Anderson wrote it. I’m sure some MTV writer thought he was being clever, and Anderson just read it off the teleprompter. Kanye is one of those guys that just wants to be mad at people. He can always find someone to have a beef with. I agree with some of our commenters who said they couldn’t see what was so special about Kanye. Apart from spending a lot of money on is music videos, I don’t see what sets him apart from most other rappers. He doesn’t seem particularly innovative – or at least not enough so to justify his ego.
Update: Here’s a video from “The Insider” of Kanye’s expletive-laced tantrum. It’s even worse to hear it than to read it. He seems slightly off his rocker.
