Lynne Spears went on the Today Show to promote her book, Through the Storm, and talk about raising her two daughters. Lynne explains why she wrote the book: “I wanted people to see our family as we really are,” and describes how she felt when she found out her daughter was pregnant.

“It [a note Jamie Lynn wrote and told her to read in the bedroom] said she was pregnant and everything was going to be OK. She was going to raise it … I thought it was a joke. I was waiting for the punch line,” Lynne told Vieira.

“I was in shock. I think I was just truly in shock, and then I started to cry. And she started consoling me at that point.”

The first thought that went through her head when she realized Jamie Lynn wasn’t joking was, “What if I kicked her in the stomach. Would that do anything? I don’t know. I think I should try. Ok. Let’s do it.” *Kick* “Oh great, just great. Now she’s crying and I don’t think it worked.”

In Lynne Spears’ upcoming book,Through the Storm, she says she’d still let her kids pursue stardom despite knowing what she knows now and she admits that “every mother makes mistakes and I’m not different.” She goes on to say:

“I wanted the truth out in my own words for myself and my family,” she tells PEOPLE of writing the book, which chronicles Britney’s highly publicized troubles and Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy at 16. The latter, says Lynne, “was probably the hardest time in my life.”

I’m sure Lynne would let them do this all over again. The money is probably really good. If my kids were able to bleed millions of dollars, I’d be willing to make a concentrated effort to screw up their lives as well. I’d personally shuttle them to clubs and ask that dealer on the street corner for an eight ball of coke. Then I’d push them out of my car and tell them to “Be popular. Don’t screw this up for me.”

Lynne Spears’ tell-all about Britney Spears is being hyped as much as possible with bits of information being released here and there. The latest are the shocking revelations that Britney lost her virginity at 14 with an 18-year-old high school football player, started doing drugs at 15, slept with Justin Timberlake at 16 and was caught with cocaine and weed while on a private Jet, also at 16.

Lynne, 53, tells how she regrets handing over control of Britney’s career to managers and allowing her daughter to be promoted as a sex object in raunchy videos at such a young age.

The silver lining in this is that Lynne gets to profit from writing a book about her awful parenting. Sure, Britney’s childhood may have been visciously stripped from her by Lynne and the industry, but at least it all worked out in the end.

Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears’, book, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, will finally be released September 16. The book is purported to be a memoir about her “backseat role in Britney’s path to fame.” Publisher, Thomas Nelson, says the book will take readers,

“beyond the reach of the paparazzi and outside the narrow orbit of the Hollywood glitterati to share the inside story of the Spears family-as only a mother can tell it.”

The book details:

• Her regret in abdicating parental authority to managers, agents and record companies
• Her response to Jamie Lynn’s teen pregnancy
• The startling events that led to Britney’s meltdown and Lynne’s showdown with manager Sam Lufti

In other words, just another way to try to capitalize off the fame of Britney and Jamie Lynn. There’s no doubt that if Jamie Lynn ever became a drug addict, Lynne would write a book about it before she tried to help her get clean. That way, she can write another book right after titled: Beyond the Looking Glass,  How I profited off of my two daughters and bought this mansion, or Bwahahahahhaha.

Jamie Lynn Spears popped out her little Cheeto eatin’ monkey today.

Maddie Briann was born at approximately 9:30am in a Mississippi hospital.

Big sister Britney, father Jamie and brother Bryan all flew into town yesterday to be there when the child was born. Mom Lynne has been with Jamie for sometime, helping her prepare for the baby.

A source says, “Just the family was there. Everyone is healthy and happy.”

Lynne Spears talked to Life & Style about Jamie Lynn and gave her thoughts on that thing growing inside Jamie’s womb. It seems she’s not too fond of the situation.

“I’m a bit disappointed that my youngest daughter got pregnant at such an early age,” she tells Life & Style. “All I can do is turn to God for answers and just leave it in his hands.”

She also discussed Britney’s current state of mind.

I pray for Britney every day to be a better mother. She’s gone through a lot of trauma, but she seems to be coming out of it — and it’s showing in her relationship with the boys. They’re really bonding. I think 2008 will be a better year for all of us.”

If Lynne Spears had any sense at all, she would have beat these two with a stick like a normal parent. That and slip abortion pills in Jamie Lynn’s vodka and Apple Jacks breakfast. And after, thrown herself off a cliff just in case someone leaves a baby at her doorstep for her to raise.

It’s truly amazing that Sam Lutfi still has not been served with his restraining order mandating that he stay away from Britney Spears. It was approved two weeks ago, but Sam has managed to stay below the radar, and technically the restraining order isn’t in effect until he’s served. I would imagine that Britney’s parents have hired some pretty good people to get to him, so he must literally not be leaving his house. Britney must be the only thing in his life, if she’s worth all this hassle. And things just keep getting worse for the Svengali: the LAPD’s Major Crimes Division is investigating Lutfi for his admission that he continually drugged Britney.

TMZ is reporting that Lutfi is being investigated by the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD. Brit’s conservators have complained that Sam drugged her as a way of keeping her under his control. Lutfi, of course, could not be reached for comment, however his spokesperson Michael Sands says that he is aware of the investigation.

Britney’s mom, Lynn Spears, gave a signed declaration to the court earlier this month, revealing that the night she arrived at Britney’s house for an intervention, Sam openly detailed to her his method of keeping Britney drugged up. “Sam told Jackie and me that he grinds up Britney’s pills, which were on the counter and included Risperdol and Seroquel. He told us that he puts them in her food and that was the reason she had been quiet for the last three days. He told us that the doctor who is treating her is trying to get her into a sleep induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to ‘heal her brain.’”

Of the investigation, a court insider confirms to OK!–”Yes. He was practicing medicine without a license when he was grinding up a cocktail of prescription pills and putting it in her food. There’s no doubt about that being a felony among other charges.”

Risperdal and Seroquel are antipsychotic drugs that are used in high doses to treat schitophrenia, in lower doses to treat bipolar disorder, and in very small doses to treat insomnia. Seroquel is also used to treat suicidal patients directly after a suicide attempt or if a patient is thought to be seriously contemplating suicide. They both have highly sedating properties on their own – combined they would create quite the zombie. They also have a long list of bizarre (and not uncommon) side effects that could explain some of Britney’s unusual behaviors. She definitely should never have been driving while on both of them. It sounds like Sam wasn’t so much “treating” Britney as he was sedating her.

Sam is also supposedly helping Britney “fight back” against her parents – or at least that’s how E! is putting it. He filed a petition to get Britney’s case moved to federal court, and also stated that she’s being kept from freely associating with her friends, handling her money, driving her car, etc. All those things are true – they’re pretty much the whole point of the conservatorship.

“Sam is at war with Jamie. This is his first strike,” a Spears insider said Friday, explaining that Lutfi feels Britney’s rights were violated because court-appointed attorneys did not investigate the claims her family was making about her condition. Lutfi’s new publicist, Michael Sands, who insists that the case has been transferred, filed the petition this week on behalf of New York attorney Jon Eardley, who is listed in the paperwork as Britney’s counsel.

“Ms. Spears has been denied the right to associate freely with friends. She has been denied the right to make or receive telephone calls. She has been denied the right to operate a motor vehicle…She has been denied the right to receive and send mail,” the petition states. “Additionally she has been denied the right to her finances. She is not allowed to access her money or credit cards. Britney has expressed that she doesn’t want to be under the lock and control of her family,” Sands said Friday. “She wants nothing to do with her father.”

Michael Sands also insists that Britney’s case has already been transferred to federal court, even though all court sources say that’s not the case. Sam clearly doesn’t like that Britney’s parents are taking charge of her life. It has nothing to do with Britney not being able to freely do what she wishes, it has to do with someone besides Sam being in control of her. Britney’s freedom is the last thing on his mind. Hopefully someone will catch him soon and serve him with the restraining order… and maybe a nice little arrest warrant too.

Since their daughter has repeatedly refused to listen to their pleas to stay in treatment and get help, Lynne and Jamie Spears are now using legal measures to try to stabilize Britney. And the law might actually be in their favor–at least for now.

TMZ is reporting that Adam Streisand, the lawyer Britney hired to fight the appointment of her father as her conservator while on a 5150 hold at UCLA Medical Center, has withdrawn from the case.

At the request of Britney Spears, Adam Streisand, a Partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP, met with her yesterday to discuss her legal rights in connection with the conservatorship over her person and estate. Following that meeting, Mr. Streisand learned that the court had issued orders that prevent Ms. Spears from retaining counsel of her own choosing, and on that basis, Mr.Streisand has decided he will not represent her at this time.”

Further, Lynne and Jamie have asked Britney’s former lawyer in the divorce case with Kevin Federline, Laura Wasser, to renew ties with Britney and help out with her ongoing custody case. Britney’s parents say Wasser is trustworthy and untainted by the influence of Sam Lutfi. Sources say Britney was happy to see her old counsel.

TMZ has learned disso queen Laura Wasser paid a secret visit at the UCLA psych ward last Tuesday, and the family wants Laura back as Brit’s custody attorney.

Wasser, who repped Brit in the divorce, quit the case — we’re told because Britney wouldn’t listen to her. But sources say Jamie and Lynne want her back.

TMZ knows Jamie wants to 86 Trope and Trope as Brit’s reps, in part because they have been chummy with Sam Lutfi. People at UCLA say Britney “lit up” when she saw Wasser. But there’s a hitch — we’re told the deal will be sealed ONLY if Britney doesn’t fight the conservatorship. As of Tuesday, she was fine letting Jamie call the shots, but it looks like that’s changed.

If Brit accepts the conservatorship and Jamie is at the reins, Laura Wasser could be back in the Britney business.

In an even more bizarre turn of events, the former publicist for K-Fed lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, is now serving as a spokesman for none other than Sam Lutfi. I don’t even know what to say about that- except that it demonstrates how powerful Sam has become since inserting himself into Spears’ life.

At 5 p.m. Eastern Time, TMZ was reporting that Jamie Spears and the family attorneys were on their way to the Los Angeles County courthouse, to possibly ask that the conservatorship be made bigger in scope. Supposedly, he wants to prohibit Britney from driving, checking in and out of hotels, and inviting the paparazzi into her home and car. Given the wild goose chase that ensued yesterday after Britney left the hospital, he is probably right.

This goes to show how difficult it is to force an adult to get treatment for mental illness or substance abuse when they are not willing to get help themselves. It’s got to be incredibly frustrating, but it appears that Jamie Spears is in this fight for the long haul. If anyone can save Britney from herself, it’s her dad.
