Halle Berry stops in hometown of Cleveland to screen new film

Halle Berry thrilled fans in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio last Thursday night when she arrived to screen her new film Perfect Stranger. Berry and co-star Giovanni Ribisi made a quick stop in Cleveland, where they were welcomed by the mayor and a swarm of local press. Berry gushed about her hometown, and said she was “so happy to be home.”

Berry and Ribisi are doing a whilrwind tour to promote their film, in which they spend just a few hours per city. Halle Berry grew up outside of Cleveland, and graduated from high school in nearby Bedford, OH in 1984. She told reporters it was good to be home:

“I’m so happy to be home. I swear this is true. No matter how many countries I’ve been to, no matter how many warm receptions I’ve gotten, my heart was beating when I pulled up. Nothing feels better. The voices all sound familiar in some weird way. I’m of here. I’m from here. And I’m one of you.”

Here’s the trailer for Perfect Stranger, also starring Bruce Willis, which is out April 12th. Halle plays a reporter who goes undercover to trap a murderer. This is one of those trailers that pretty much gives away the whole plot. It also looks like it portrays technology as this mysterious evil force circa 1996 rather than the regular part of our everyday lives that it is today.

Halle recently vowed never to marry again and says she doesn’t need the formality in order to have a committed relationship. She also said she wants to learn to be a better golfer as her longterm boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, is a fan of the sport. Halle claims that even lessons by a top pro didn’t help her improve much.

Halle is in final talks to team up with Billy Bob Thornton for another thriller based on the real-life story of a lawyer exposing the racially-motivated drug convictions in a Texas town in the early 90s. Halle won an Oscar for her performance alongside Thornton in 2001’s Monster’s Ball.

Halle is seen in pictures outside the theatre, via Cleveland.com. She is also shown on Sunday at a benefit for the Jenesse Center, the oldest domestic violence intervention program in Los Angeles. She is shown at the group’s 2007 Silver Rose Awards auction and dinner. Berry is a celebrity chairperson and supporter.

Although Halle Berry has been dating model Gabriel Aubry for over a year, she intimated to Instyle that she will never marry again. The Oscar winner already has two failed marriages with David Justice and Eric Benét under her belt. It isn’t surprising she isn’t looking for more. In fact, Gabriel is a departure from the usual guys she goes for.

“But he was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past I’ve been attracted to big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first. But that just made him more appealing. I had to work at this a little. It wasn’t a slam dunk; it wasn’t the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched – put it that way.”

Later on she mentions her desire to adopt. A smart choice indeed as genetics has a profound sense of humor when it comes to beautiful people and babies. Just take a look at the children I’ve had with hot chicks like Alessandra Ambrosio or Jessica Alba or Orlando Bloom. You couldn’t throw those babies in the sewer fast enough.

Halle Berry repeats claim that she’ll never marry again

Halle Berry has said that she’s definitely never ever getting married again. She gave a candid interview to InStyle and said people can have a committed relationship and share their lives without making it official. She also said that her current boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, 31, is shy and that he didn’t chase her after they met on a Versace photoshoot. She said she had to play it cool in order to win his affections:

“I will never, never get married again,” the Oscar winner, 40, says in the April issue of InStyle.

“Actually it’s just that now I’ve come to a place where I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper.”

She met Aubry, 31, while shooting a Versace ad in November 2005. They made their public debut as a couple three months later at
the opening of a Versace store in New York City.

“After my last relationship [with actor Michael Ealy] broke up I was feeling like, well, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to be in a relationship, it’s just that I thought it would be okay to be on my own,” she tells InStyle.

I once was bitching about how I would never live in one of those high-rise apartment buildings again, and my mother decided to start lecturing me by saying “never say never… ” I rolled my eyes and tuned it out but I guess I would have similar advice for Halle. You never know what life is going to throw at you. I would rather live in one of those buildings than in a shack or something I guess, and maybe Halle would get married at some point if her man gave her an ultimatum. If she’s making statements like that, though, it sounds like she’s the one calling the shots in the relationship.

Berry, 40, also said that she “definitely” wants children at some point, and has said in the past that she wants to adopt. She says she wants to pass on values like integrity and hard work to any children that may come into her life.

Berry was married twice before. Halle’s first marriage, to baseball player David Justice lasted from 1992 to 1996. They broke up due in part to differing schedules and too much time apart while he was on the road. She claimed her last husband, singer Eric Ben�t, cheated on her an astonishing �27 times.� Benet has admitted he was unfaithful to Berry, but says he was not as much of a cheater as Berry claims. Berry and Benet were married from 2001 to 2004.

In January Halle was seen out with a ring on her left ring finger, sparking engagement rumors. Either that was untrue or she’s called it off.

This isn’t the first time Halle has said she will never marry again. She said in 2004 when the pain of her second divorce was still fresh that “I’ll never get married again, and I always hate to say never to anything, but I will never marry again.”
