Wow, my sense of security in this world just took a major hit.

We reported earlier in the week that Anna Nicole Smith married her longtime lawyer, Howard “Not the Shock Jock” “K.” Stern.

Now word is coming through that the marriage was “not legally binding,” and the vows were just part of a “commitment ceremony.” Apparently heterosexual marriage isn’t allowed in the Bahamas — well, it’s allowed in Freeport, but then it won’t be recognized in Nassau, which specifically voted to ban heterosexual marriage, considering it a “vile affront to encouraging hot chicks to go down on each other, i.e., tourism.”

Here’s what rocks my world: This statement was made by Michael Scott, Anna’s attorney.

What happened? Howard K. Stern has been Anna’s lawyer since the dawn of time! Since J. Howard Marshall was born, it seems! Does Anna need a new lawyer now that she’s in love with her old one? Who’s writing the pre-nup? I really don’t know if I can get used to this.

The coups keep coming for The Killers. In the summer of 2005, the electro-pop phenoms from Las Vegas performed in London for the Live 8 charity extravaganza. They’re back as musical guests on "Saturday Night Live," this time for the show’s season premiere tonight. "All the stars came together," said their manager Robert Reynolds. "Obviously, a lot of bands were vying for that spot." They’ll play two songs — "When You Were Young" and "Bones" — from their new album, "Sam’s Town," which is being released on Tuesday. For "Bones," The Killers will get help from the horn section of SNL’s house band. The song’s video is being produced by veteran director Tim Burton, his first music video. The Killers will be musical guests on ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for three consecutive nights next week, a first for Kimmel’s show.

NICK Carter says he decided to fight fire with fire when he learned that Paris Hilton was rampantly cheating on him with Sophia Bush’s fiancé, Chad Michael Murray – so he waited until she jetted off to Australia and then jumped into bed with Ashlee Simpson. The former Backstreet Boy revealed his revenge tactic when he and his kid brother Aaron visited Page Six yesterday to promote their E! show, "House of Carters," on their way to an Us Weekly luncheon "I’d fallen head over heels with this chick. Then, all of a sudden, three months go by and I got people telling me, ‘Nick, you know what Paris is doing to you,’ and I got a little upset," Carter related. "So then I just decided to fight back a little bit and started doing my own thing again. The result is I hooked up with Ashlee Simpson. When Paris came back from Australia, they talked to each other and she found out about it. "So I brought it up to her and said, ‘You know what I did, and now it’s your turn. Update: I thought about this more, and the only CMA/AA meetings on a Wednesday (when these photos were taken) end at 8 pm, and there’s no way it was this bright out at 8 pm this late in September. I live in this city. Still, the WHRC is most definitely a 12-step center.

Star magazine reports that Anna Nicole Smith married her lawyer and constant companion, Howard K. Stern, in the Bahamas on Thursday morning. The ceremony took place on a yacht off the coast of Nassau, and Anna Nicole wore a pink bikini for the event.

Update: According to Perez, this quickie marriage may be an attempt to prevent a paternity suit by Larry Birkhead, a former fling of Anna’s who is claiming to be the father of the baby. Perez’s source says:

“I am positive that the reason they got married is because under the family law in the Bahamas, if a person marries the mother AFTER birth of the child AND acknowledges he is the natural father (which Howard Stern did on the Larry King show) — he is presumed under their laws to be the father of the child.”

In effect, this prevents Birkhead from filing a paternity suit and from insisting on a DNA test. Smith recently became a legal resident of the Bahamas.

This just keeps getting stranger.

Nicole Richie was photographed outside the West Hollywood Recovery Center on 626 N Robertson Boulevard. I Googled the center and learned that it’s an informal recovery center that focuses on 12-step meetings. At the top of the search were results for Crystal Meth Anonymous meetings that are held there on Wednesday nights.

These pictures of Nicole Richie outside the West Hollywood Recovery center are said to be from 9/27 – Wednesday – the same day Crystal Meth Anonymous meetings are held there.

Here’s the schedule of meetings at the West Hollywood Recovery Center on Wednesdays. It is possible the Nicole went to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting “step study” and not a Crystal Meth Anonymous meeting as they are held at the same time. There is also a Nicotine Anonymous meeting at 8:30, but these pictures seem to be taken earlier than the 9:45 PM ending time:

Nicole has denied that she checked herself into an eating disorder clinic, as has been recently rumored. She wrote an exasperated message on her myspace blasting the rumors and saying that she’s annoyed that people keep bringing it up:

It’s long been rumored that Richie’s notorious stylist, Rachel Zoe, keeps her clients thin by serving as their drug dealer. Nicole may indeed be telling the truth that she doesn’t have an eating disorder, and her thin frame could be evidence of another addiction entirely.

If she is getting help, good for her. She seems really happy with Brody and hopefully she’ll kick whatever demons have been keeping her rail thin.

I’m calling this an exclusive because I believe I’m the first blogger to jump to this conclusion.
